Most people do not know what to do with their old computer when it gets to old. They just might give it to charity or put it in the children room for them to play on. That might be the safest things to do with it because at least your children are family and the secrets are safe there. Giving your computer and hard drive that you had for years is just not safe.

I used to have an internet café before and sometimes people came to me with digital cameras and flash drives that were deleted by mistake or by purpose. One guy was forced to delete all the pictures of his girlfriend because they broke up. He came to me and in 30 min I had the pictures back on his digital camera.

The same thing can happen with your computer, what goes in the trash does not stay in the trash.

It works the same way as your trash under the table. Your document and other things you put in the trash can still be picked up by someone. If that some one want to know something about you and he finds your old computer he knows everything about you.

The police forces in many countries have software that can recover hard drives that has been formatted over and over. That means your “secrets” are not safe just because you delete them. Some agency’s in USA can even get a burnt hard drive back to life and puzzle the rest back.

But before you start to panic there is a way out and it is called hard disc drive destruction and it can safely terminate the life of a hard drive.

Many companies with secrets leave the hard drives to this kind of companies to make sure that no secrets leaks out.
